What a free website audit can see from the outside (and what it can't)

Many problems that cost a website money are visible to anyone: pages Google can't list, a broken path to buy, tracking that stopped. Here is what we check from the outside, in about 20 minutes, and what only your own data can show.

When a website stops earning what it should, the cause is often hiding in plain sight. A setting tells Google to skip half the pages. The buy button sits below the fold on a phone. The analytics tag was removed in a redesign and nobody noticed. None of this needs a password to find. It needs someone who knows where to look.

That is what our free outside-in audit does: it looks at your website the way a customer or a search engine sees it, and sends you a report with everything it finds, most important first.

If you lead the team: what to ask

  • Can Google find and list every page we want people to find?
  • Can a customer get from the product to the purchase on a phone, without hunting?
  • If our tracking broke today, how long would it take us to notice?

What we look at

Six questions, each answered with what anyone can see in a browser.

  1. Can search engines find and list your pages? We compare what Google shows for your site with what your sitemap says should be there, and look for the small settings that keep pages out: a noindex tag (an instruction that says "don't list this page"), a wrong canonical (a tag that points Google to a different page), a blocked folder. Pages can also vanish for reasons nobody chose: on one affiliate site, an automated clean-up was deleting articles two days after they went live, including some on Google’s first page; here is how we found it.
  2. How do you look in search? Your brand name, two or three searches a buyer would make, and how your titles read in the results. We also ask an AI assistant who offers what you sell, because more buyers now start there.
  3. Does the path to buy work? On a phone, from the homepage to the product to the cart, form or booking. Anything broken, slow or hidden gets noted. Often the offer is two clicks away from the product it belongs to; putting it where the product is is one of the cheapest fixes there is.
  4. Is it fast enough? We run the main pages through Google’s own speed test on mobile, and look at what slows them down: huge images, pop-ups, several chat widgets loading at once.
  5. Are you measuring? Is the analytics tag there, once? Is there an old one that stopped recording years ago? Does the cookie banner block analytics for everyone, even where the law doesn’t require it? Without this, every other decision is a guess; every lead should arrive with its source.
  6. Is something blocking real people? We load the site from another country. A firewall or bot shield can turn away buyers and search engines without anyone on the team ever seeing it; your security policy may be hiding your revenue.

What we don’t do

We only use what any visitor can see. No logins, no security scans, no test messages through your forms, and nothing on your site changes. If we wouldn’t do it as a customer, we don’t do it.

What the outside can’t show

From outside we can see that something is wrong. We can’t see what it costs you. That lives in your own data:

  • Search Console shows how many pages Google actually lists, and which ones it dropped and when.
  • Analytics shows where visitors come from, where they leave, and which pages bring sales.
  • Server logs show what search engines and bots really do on your site.

So a free audit tells you where to look first. It doesn’t replace looking.

What you get

One email with everything we found, the most important first, each in plain words: what it is, why it can cost you, how to check it yourself in a minute, and the first step to fix it. You can hand it to your team, your agency or your developer as it is.

Check your own site today

  • Search site:yourdomain.com in Google. Is the number of results close to the number of pages you have?
  • Open your three most important pages and view the source. Any noindex?
  • On your phone, go from the homepage to a purchase or a contact. How many taps? Did anything get in the way?
  • Is your analytics tag on every page, exactly once?
  • Ask an AI assistant who offers what you sell in your market. Are you in the answer?
