Solid foundations
Your site has the basics that protect revenue. If income still fell, the cause is likely outside these checks: competition, search changes or demand. That is exactly what a dated diagnosis finds.
Leaks are likely
Some of the basics that protect revenue are missing. Each gap below is either a leak or a blind spot that hides one. Fix them in order: they are listed by impact.
Significant leaks
Several of the basics that protect revenue are missing, so the site can be losing money without anyone being able to see where. Start with the first item below: until the numbers are trustworthy, every other fix is a guess.
Where to start
- If traffic or revenue fell, can you name the week it started?
Date the drop first. Once you know the week it started, you can line it up against search updates, releases and tracking changes, and the cause usually shows itself.
- Do you trust your analytics enough to make decisions with it?
Audit tracking before you read the trend. A broken or duplicated tag can fake a drop or hide a real one, and every decision after that is built on the wrong number.
- Do you know how much of your traffic is bots, and is it filtered out of your reports?
Separate people from bots. Bots inflate sessions and dilute conversion rates, so real losses look smaller than they are.
- Is every money action tracked per page: affiliate click, sign-up, purchase, lead?
Track every money action per page. Until you can see which pages earn, you can't see which ones stopped.
- Have you confirmed in Search Console that your earning pages are indexed?
Check indexing for the pages that earn. A page that silently drops out of the index loses its search revenue overnight, and nothing on the site looks broken.
- Do you keep a dated record of site changes: releases, plugin updates, redesigns, migrations?
Keep a dated change log. Most self-inflicted drops are found by lining up the drop date with what changed, and redesigns and migrations are the usual suspects.

- Do your key pages load fast on an ordinary phone?
Make the earning pages fast on mid-range phones. Slow pages rank lower and convert less, and most visitors arrive on a phone.

- Are your top-earning pages kept current: prices, offers, facts and dates?
Refresh the pages that earn first. Stale facts and expired offers lose rankings, clicks and trust, one visitor at a time.

- Can every visitor (and every search crawler) actually reach your offer?
Test your site the way strangers reach it. Security rules that block bots often block search crawlers and real visitors too, and that revenue disappears without an error.
- Would you know within a day if traffic, conversions or the site itself broke?
Set alerts on traffic, conversions and uptime. Most of what a break costs is the days nobody notices it.
